Bike ride from Plaza Catalunya to Barceloneta beach
Hello again and welcome to the city of Barcelona!
Today we will take a bike ride through Barcelona, from Plaza Catalunya to the beach of Barceloneta!
First of all, on our right we have the Boquería market (which has an exclusive video on this blog).
We are going down the Ramblas, an avenue with a wide sidewalk where tourists stroll quietly between flower, pet and souvenir stands. This street separates the neighborhoods of the Raval on my left and the Gothic Quarter on my right, in which we find the Barcelona City Council, the government of Catalonia and ¡The Cathedral!
We arrive at the Columbus statue and the old port of Barcelona. The monument of Christopher Columbus is one of the oldest icons in Barcelona. Standing since 1888 has marked the horizon of this city for more than 125 years. Does Colon’s finger point to America? NO! America is in the opposite direction, it just points to the sea.
We cross the old port and can delight ourselves with the entrance of the sailing ships that have just made a race. Crossing the bridge we find a shopping center called Maremagnum which opens 365 days a year.
Formerly, in front of the statue of Columbus, in the port, there was a reproduction of one of the ships that sailed to America, to which it was possible to climb.
We also can see multiple old sailing ships in the harbor. This area is full of restaurants where you can eat paella and seafood. We can swim in the Mediterranean from June to November. We can see the crowd enjoying a relaxing bath …. well, relaxing …
Finally, rewind back and see how I started the day … If you like to get up early and want to enjoy the tranquility of Barcelona beach, a unique experience is to see the sunrise of Barcelona, immersed in the Mediterranean sea … So, you can not miss it!
We hope you have enjoyed it and would love to see you soon in our beautiful city, Barcelona. Don’t forget to visit our Facebook!
